There is a Location Services feature included in both Windows 10 and 11 which allows apps to access your device’s geographic location and provide specific content as well as services. While this can be useful to make the search results more precise, there will be a time that you may prefer to disable it. In this WiseCleaner article, we will guide you through the steps to disable location services on Windows 11.
Disabling Location Services can enhance your privacy by not sharing your geographic location data with apps and websites. Additionally, disabling this feature can help save battery life on laptops. Furthermore, you might reduce unwanted notifications and prompts from apps using location data by disabling location services.
In the Settings window, click on the Privacy & security tab on the left sidebar.
Scroll down to locate and click on the Location under App permissions.
Click the toggle switch of Location services at the top of the Location settings page to turn off this feature. Click on Turn off if the prompt pops up.
Please note, you may not able to set your time zone automatically after turning off the Location services feature.
If you want to keep Location services enabled but choose which apps can access your location, scroll down to the Let apps access your location section and toggle the switch for individual apps.
You can also clear your previous location history by scrolling down to find the Location history section. Click on the Clear button next to it to remove all location history stored on your device.
By following the steps in this WiseCleaner article, you can turn off location services in your Windows 11 and regain control over your privacy.
